Our cabins sit 550 feet above the White River, looking out over Inspiration Valley. Downtown is six miles away when you want it — and invisible from the deck when you do not. Picking the Right Cabin

A few things to look for if romance is the whole point:

• A private deck. Not a shared one. Not one with a neighbor in the sightline.

• A wood-burning fireplace. In season, October through March — this is the single thing that makes a winter trip feel like a honeymoon.

• A late lunch in town, a bit of wandering.
• Back to the cabin before sundown. The last hours of the day are the best ones.
